St. John of the Cross(1542-1591) was a Spanish poet, mystic, author, and Carmelite priest best known for his poem Dark Night of the Soul and the accompanying commentaries/expositions The Ascent of Mount Carmel and The Dark Night. In The Collected Works of St. John of the Cross, The Institute of Carmelite Studies has compiled all of his writings into one 800-page volume. Contained in this book are an introduction and biographical sketch of St. John, all of his poetry in both English and Spanish, The Sayings of Light and Love, The Ascent of Mount Carmel, The Dark Night, The Spiritual Canticle, The Living Flame of Love, some special counsels, 33 letters written by St. John, and a glossary and index. Before reading this book, I had only read The Dark Night of the Soul and some of St. John’s poetry. I highly recommend this book, especially for people with an interest in mystical Christianity. Packed with personal stories, the book is almost entirely written as firsthand testimonies of healings and other miracles. Something Needs to Change, the latest book by New York Times bestselling author David Platt, is written as a memoir, telling the story of Platt’s life-changing eight day trek through the Himalayas. Platt describes each day’s events in great detail, like his experiences with dire physical and spiritual need, his internal wrestling with his beliefs, and his journal entries about it all. Throughout this journey, he urges the reader to abandon complacency concerning all the urgent needs in this world and to actually do something about them. I highly recommend this book and author. Fire! - James Levesque book review

Before reading Fire! I had never heard of James Levesque, but after reading the list of endorsements by men like Bill Johnson, Carlos Annacondia, John Arnott, David Hogan, Michael Brown, Rick Joyner, and Rodney Howard-Browne, I thought it would definitely be worth reading.  Throughout twelve chapters like “Learning to Receive”, “Living in Pursuit of His Presence”, “Living Surrendered”, and  “Believing Outpouring Can Continue”, Levesque encourages readers to abandon status-quo Christianity and pursue revival. In eleven chapters, she covers topics like: Obedience, Willingness, Humility, Selflessness, Prayer, Warfare, Holiness, Faithfulness, and Accountability. These things, LeClaire teaches, need to be top priority for anyone involved in prophetic ministry.
